Feeling Good

January 14, 2008

This morning I felt great.  I had a bit of a hard time getting out of bed — although I set my alarm for 4:15am, I didn’t leave the house until after 5am.  Still I increased my squat lift and my one-arm row, so I’m feeling good about that.

So far my squat is up to 155lbs.  I felt like I was not going to get the 15th rep of the second set in, but I did.  That felt good.

So here’s what my workout looked like today:

  • squat: 155lbs x 15
  • squat: 155lbs x 15
  • static lunge:  50lbs x 15 (each leg)
  • one-arm row: 40lbs x15 (each arm)
  • static lunge: 50×15
  • one-arm row: 40×15
  • pushups: BWx15
  • swiss ball crunch: BWx20

Saturday Update

January 14, 2008

An update…. I did wake up on Saturday and got my workout in (the Friday workout I wussed out of, if you didn’t read that post).  I felt good.  I had set my alarm to 7am, but didn’t end up hitting the gym until about 9:30(?).  Luckily the kids didn’t have any sporting events planned for that morning, so I didn’t have the I-have-to-get-up-now-or-I’m-gonna-miss-my-workout pressure.

What’s interesting is that since I usually hit the gym before 5am, I get used to that crowd.  Every once in a while, like this past Saturday, I go to the gym at a later time, and I’m always amazed how different the crowd is… more socializing (leaning on stations while having conversations), more “meatheads” (please excuse the expression), more struttin’ (hey, look at me).  I can’t believe what a difference a couple of hours makes.
