Deadlifts milestone

January 16, 2008

This morning, I just had to try deadlifts at 205lbs.  My last workout B, I DL’ed 185lbs.  I did 15 reps then 14 reps.  I thought I should try 195lbs today, but couldn’t resist the temptation of crossing the 200lb mark.  So my first set I did 205×15.  I was just able to complete the 15th one, but I did it.  The second set I did 205×10 then I just took off the 35lb plates so I could do five more reps (at 135) without much of a pause.

Maybe if I had worked with 195lbs I would have been able to get closer to the two 15 rep sets, but I just couldn’t resist.  That felt good.  Crossing 200.

Down to one of each

January 16, 2008

I just finished my second-to-last Workout B of the break-in program, and I’m getting excited.  I have one more workout A and one more workout B to go.  I don’t know what it is, but I’m looking forward to the Fat Loss II program that’s next for me.  Is it just the change that I’m looking forward to?  That’s the only thing I can think of, because I’m enjoying the break-in program.

Maybe it’s that I haven’t seen any physical gains so far.  I’ve seen some gains in the weight I can handle (I did one set of 205×15 deadlifts this morning), but haven’t really seen anything noticeable in my body.

Maybe it’s that I don’t have much of a gut, but still can’t see my abs (I can see an outline of the top four) and maybe the name of the program – Fat Loss – gets me thinking that I’ll be able to see my abs afterwards.

I don’t know.  I’m excited though.  Excited about finishing the break-in program.  Excited about starting the Fat Loss program.  Excited about my gains in strength.  Excited.
